Stay with Me

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You and Be with Me returns with a daring tale that pushes boundaries . . . in which a young woman learns that you can’t run from your past—no matter how far you go.
At twenty-one, Calla hasn’t done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.
But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she’d left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.
Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.

I can’t get enough of J. Lynn/Jennifer L. Armentrout, her books are completely addicting. The way that Jennifer tells her stories keeps me completely enthralled to the point that I’m up all night just to finish the book! This was no different than all her other books, I was completely transfixed and couldn’t put Stay with Me down.
I immediately connected with Calla as I learned about her struggles throughout her life and how she is living at college lying to her friends as she doesn’t want them to know the truth about where she came from and the type of life she used to live. She thought her old life would always stay hidden, her mom wouldn’t be able to haunt her anymore and she could continue on completing her FFFs. She thinks that she is really living but she learns she truly hasn’t lived once she meets Jax.
Calla has been living all these years thinking that her mother couldn’t hurt her anymore until she finds out that her mother has taken loans out her in name, spent all the money she had in savings and maxed out credit cards in her name – now she can’t afford school, her credit is completely tanked..will she even qualify for any loans now?!
After this revelation Calla realizes it’s time to head back to her home town for the summer and try to get the money back from her Mom. She thought it would be a simple task, in and out and clear all the debt her mother created. Too bad her mother is MIA and the bar that her mother owns is being run by a super freaking hot bartender named Jax. You couldn’t help falling in love with Jax from the get-go. He is super freaking flirty and honestly just captures your heart right away.
Through Calla coming home she realizes that taking care of her money issues isn’t going to be a simple task. What is first Calla’s worst nightmare turns into a dream she never thought she actually had. Jax treats Calla like she is his world and will do anything to protect her from the things her mom has done.
I highly recommend reading this story, Jax and Calla completely captured my heart. They are my favorite couple in the series, I can’t wait to spend more time with all the characters!
