Leah Morgan was done with men. After barely surviving a horrendous childhood, and a boyfriend who bailed when things got rough, Leah had given up on love. Then she met him, Hollywood’s new golden boy who suddenly had eyes only for her. She tried to convince herself that one night couldn’t hurt, but after six months, the memories of his mesmerizing gaze and searing touch still invaded her every thought.
Declan James had just one rule when it came to women. Keep it simple, and never linger. That all changed the moment he met Leah. Even across a crowded bar, he could tell she was different. Sweet, with just the right amount of sass, she made him break his golden rule and now he couldn’t walk away.
When casual becomes anything but, and emotions run deep, will Leah and Declan fight their fears, or let old insecurities destroy their one chance to discover true happiness? When Declan’s past comes roaring back in a way neither of them could have expected, will they stand united or be torn apart by the challenges that lie ahead?
It was only supposed to be one night, but only forever will do.

JL Berg has written another fantastic love story that completely pulled at my heart strings. You may remember Leah as Clare’s seriously fantastic BFF and Declan (yes any guy with that name is a serious hottie) Logan’s longtime friend. In When You’re Ready they hooked up for one night, but it was an off the charts sort of night.
Flash forward six months and both Leah and Declan are still totally into each other. Well, Declan is convinced he just needs to get her out of his system. As soon as he touches down in Virginia to film his next movie, he drives right over to her house and is flat-out rejected. No one has rejected him before so of course that totally irks him. Within a few days, Leah of course comes to her wits and goes to him. They stumble into a relationship and it is nothing short of amazing.
“I’m yours, remember? I’m yours, and you are mine.”
Leah has some issues that she has carried around her entire life. Her mom left when she was very young and it has really hurt her emotionally. She truly thought that there was something wrong with her and that is why her mom left. So, for that reason she never saw herself as the type to have children. She also had an awful father who was just plain cruel. But, in between all that ugliness she has become the most selfless person. She volunteers, she helps her friends at the drop of a hat, she tutors, she’s a nurse, ok…the list can still go on. It isn’t until Declan finally shows her that she is worthy that she finally starts to believe it. Leah also helped change Declan into a better man. Before her, he was a take ‘em and leave ‘em sort of guy. He didn’t do sleepovers, repeats or any sort of relationship. It wasn’t until he met Leah did all of that change. Leah also brought out his alpha side which was all sorts of swoony. I absolutely loved these two together, they were perfect for each other and together they were nothing short of smoking hot!
“She was an addiction I never wanted to cure. She was my Hollywood happy ending, and I couldn’t wait to spend every moment of lives together real-life movie magic.”
I was nervous at first that the book was going to be all flowers and butterflies but of course JL totally threw me off with serious wrench in the works. I seriously loved where she took the story, it made it that more amazing. Lastly, this book is told in dual POVs and that is my favorite!!
I cannot recommend JL’s books enough, they are must reads!
