They say that life is a beautiful lie and death a painful truth. They’re right. No one has ever made me feel more alive than the guy who serves as a constant reminder that my clock is ticking. He is my forbidden, shiny apple. The striking fallacy to my blunt, raw, truth. He is also my sister’s ex-boyfriend. One thing you should know before you judge me; I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first. Eleven years later, he waltzed into my life, demanding a second chance.
Dean Cole wants to be my bronze horseman. My white knight has finally arrived. Hopefully, he isn’t too late.
They say the brightest stars burn out the fastest. They’re right. She sets my mind on fire. All smart mouth, snarky attitude and a huge heart. In a world where everything is dull, she shines like fucking Sirius. Eleven years ago, fate tore us apart. This time, I fucking dare it to try. Getting to her is a battlefield, but man, that’s why they call me Ruckus. Rosie LeBlanc is about to find out how hard I can fight.
And conquering her will be the sweetest victory.
Let’s be real here…L.J. Shen’s Sinners of Saint series is my version of Kindle crack. I read Vicious in 24 hours. And honestly, I wasn’t sure if I could like Dean more than I liked Vicious…but yep, I totally did.
What I liked about this book, was that it was a bit more emotional than the last one. I dug deeper into more serious topics.
As you may recall, Dean was Emilia’s boyfriend in high school. But as the reader comes to find out, his heart was always beating for Baby LeBlanc, Rosie. Things didn’t turn out the way that they should’ve all those years ago. But flash forward to the present and Dean is finally ready to claim his girl.
I’ve you’ve read Vicious, you know that Rosie has cystic fibrosis. This disease has affected the way she lives. She’s sworn off marriages and babies. She doesn’t promise forever to anyone. But Dean has always been that guy who does it for her. But at the same time, she doesn’t let this disease effect who she is.
“Love is not perfect. Life is not perfect.”
I will say, Dean came off as a completely different person in Ruckus. I thought he was this totally sweet guy in Vicious. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked him in this book…but he was just not what I was expecting. There was a lot of depth to his story and at times he came off like a complete ass. BUT…ladies…this book needs to come with an ovary combusting warning. Dean is quite the dirty talker and had me wanting to take up smoking again-okay not really-but you get the point.
This book is touted as a forbidden romance though I didn’t really get that vibe. In my opinion it was about two people who should’ve been together in the first place yet there were too many obstacles in their way.
“There won’t be a next Rosie. And there won’t be another story like ours.”
I have really enjoyed this series. It’s addicting, hot-as-hell, and frankly I love the hell out of them. If you are looking for a book that fits those qualifications look no further.
And if you love a good epilogue, you are definitely in for a treat.
