Indy Savage, cop’s daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy’s employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicating matters, Lee has decided he’s interested, Indy’s decided she’s not. But she can’t seem to keep Lee out of her life when she’s repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she’s finding dead bodies).
Indy’s best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee’s challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.
Well I finally read my first Kristen Ashley (KA) book! I have heard great things about so many of her series, we have had guest reviewers read her books, and even some of my fellow bloggers have been HUGE KA groupies. So, I’m not sure what took me so long to pick up one of her books, but I’m offically a fan!
I decided to start with the first book in the Rock Chick series, which has been sitting on my kindle for far too long. I had heard that this series featured a bunch of sexy, alpha men and a group of strong, kick ass women. Well, if the characters in Rock Chick are any indication of the books to come, I would have to strongly agree! India “Indy” Savage is a sassy, strong-willed rockin’ chick that doesn’t back down from much. I will admit that I had a love/hate relationship with Indy. She doesn’t listen well, even when she knows she is putting herself and others in danger. She has a tendency do the exact opposite of what she should be doing, but she is also funny, caring and she can be very lovable!
Liam “Lee” Nightingale is just so well written. He says what he means and means what he says. He doesn’t pretend or play games and his alpha ways had me swooning many times throughout the book! Of course he can also be very cocky and possessive, but I also loved that side of him.
“Jesus,” he buried his face in my neck, “there’s nothin’ better in the world than hearin’ you say my name when I’m inside of you.” He slid in deep, filling me. “I’ve been waitin’ years to be right here.”
Rock Chick has a little bit of everything to cater to the needs of many different types of readers. It is a friends to lovers story, it features not only two great main characters, but a wide array of secondary characters that I can’t wait to read more about. It also has skokie scenes, a little bit of adventure and mystery, and some funny parts as well. I am excited to read more from Kristen Ashley and I would definitely recommend this series to other readers!
Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.
Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.
