He’s loved me since the day I was born. He’s taken care of me.

He’s awakened me.

Tor. My father’s best friend. Fifteen years older than me, he’s always been my protector. The one I should never, ever want.

But I was born to be his.

She’s always loved me. She’s shattered me. She’s healed me. Kenzi. My best friend’s daughter. I held her the day she was born, and I never let go. She’s forbidden to me. But she’s the only one that really gets me. We’re slowly being torn apart by everything we love. Everything we want.

Everything we desire.

And now I want the one thing I can’t have… I want her.

I was a bit skeptical going into Torn. You see, with the taboo nature of this book, it had the possibility of being super-icky. I was so nervous that I was building up this one in my head before I actually started it. I mean, I am obsessed with taboo reads. They are like my Kindle crack. But the moment I started this one I was completely taken by the incredible writing and the love story that unfolded.

Kenzi is the daughter of two famous musicians. Her parents were both fifteen when they had her and were on tour a lot. So, Tor, her dad and mom’s best friend stepped in and helped raise her. They forged this unique bond that stayed with them throughout the years. Eventually, both start to develop feelings that are more than just platonic.

“I love this man without end. No matter what, I know that will never, ever change. He is my heart.”

Stop…I know what you are thinking. How can this not be straight-up wrong? Right?! Trust me, it’s not. If anything, the different feelings these two started to feel was out of pure LOVE. Their transition from friends to lovers was so organic and you will feel in your heart.

Kenzi is way beyond her years, and is not your average teenager. Tor is just, well, one of the most romantic heroes I’ve read in a very long time. I swear, he himself has put me in a bit of a book hangover. How can you not fall in love with a man who has a way with words and in his spare time rescues animals. The straight way to my heart is a love for animals.

“Young love…first love is so innocent. So pure and trusting. So all encompassing. I shouldn’t be on the receiving end of that love from her at my age, but in all honesty, she’s my first love, too.”

Torn was incredibly well-written. The angst and build-up was done superbly. You will feel the love these two share for each other. You will feel the torment that Tor is going through while he resolves his feelings for Kenzi. Ugh…just thinking back to it makes me want to cry.

The fallout these two go through was played out the exact way it should’ve been. The ending was perfect. Now that I think about it, there is not one thing I did not like about this book.

“I want you to be my first. I want you to be my last. I want you to be all the in-betweens. I want you. Just you. Only you”

Please give this book a chance. Don’t be scared off by the subject matter. Carian Cole knocked this one out of the ballpark and handled such a taboo subject beautifully with perfect execution. I will admit I had to remember to breathe while reading it. It was that good. I also savored this one as I didn’t want to finish it.

This book will have you tearing up, swooning, and falling in love with Kenzi and Tor. Torn will definitely be in my Top Ten of 2016.

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.

My first novel in the Ashes & Embers series, Storm, was published in September of 2014, with several more of this series planned throughout 2015 and 2016 and beyond.

Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
