A new adult story of Love. Sex. Addiction. Blackmail. And Power…
Some say love can be an addiction. Others say it’s the thing that makes life worth living. Let me tell you everything I know about love…Love isn’t patient, love isn’t kind. Love is a game, a chase. A thrill. Love is wild and war-like, and every man and woman must fight for themselves. At least that’s how it was for me. A high-priced virgin call girl by the time I started college, I was addicted to love and to sex. Even though I’ve never had either. I controlled love, played it, and held the world in the palm of my hands. Then I fell down from those highs, and I’m being blackmailed for all my mistakes, forced to keep secrets from everyone, except the only guy I don’t regret.
With all the other women, I knew what they were. They were temporary. They were pills, they were bottles, they took away all the pain, and numbed the awful memories that wore down my ragged, wasted heart. Until I met Harley. She’s the only girl I ever missed when she walked away. But now she’s back in my life, every day, and there are no guarantees for us, especially since I don’t know how to tell her my secrets. What happened to my family. All I know is she’s the closest I’ve ever come to something real, and I want to feel every second of it.
How can you love with no regrets when regret is all you know?

So being the Lauren Blakely fan that I am, I was super excited to read her newest book, “The Thrill of It”. After reading the synopsis alone I was pretty much salivating. This book is nothing like her other books; it is gritty, raw, and far more scandalous (well in my opinion).
As Harley describes herself, she is a virgin, high-price call girl. I know, at first I couldn’t wrap my head around her being a virgin either. But, once you dig deeper into her story, it all ends up making sense. Now, I really felt bad for her; her mother was a trip and literally had no place being a mother. The scenes of her mother’s dinner parties actually had me cringing and the whole “wanting to be her friend, not her mother” was another thing to set me over the edge. Then you throw in her pimp, Cam who was one of my favorite parts of the book and Harley’s issues make more sense. Cam totally understands her and wants to take care of her. Yes, I know I actually said that about a pimp.
This brings me to Trey, he is a tattoo artist at a shop that Harley stumbles into one day. They have a special night together where Harley lets herself go further with a boy then she ever has. As a funny way in which fate works, they both show up at a Sex Addicts Anonymous meeting the next day. Yet again, how can Harley be at one of these meetings you ask? Well…you will have to read the book because I actually really enjoyed that sub-plot and don’t want to spoil it. Trey has landed himself there after one of his cougar conquests ends badly. Through their sessions as well as an evolving relationship, they both end up falling for each other. Their relationship is a slow-burn with some heart-stopping moments.
I must warn you that there is a cliffhanger. But, be assured…the wait should not be that bad.
