There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision–a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

Any time I read a Brittainy C. Cherry book, I know that I am going to be in for an emotional ride and this one was no different.

Alyssa and Logan meet during their high school years while Alyssa is working at the grocery store as a cashier. After helping him out of a sticky situation a bond is forged and they become the best of friends. Their friendship withstands their completely different backgrounds. Logan is the dark to Alyssa’s light. Logan is the boy from the wrong side of the tracks with a drug addict mother. His best friend and only constant is his brother Kellan.  Alyssa is the wealthy girl with a mother who is nothing short of awful.

The only thing that feels right is the love that these two feel for each other.

They finally succumb to their feelings of love and enter a passionate and emotional journey.

But as we know….Ms. Cherry will always throw a wrench in the way.

When these two end up together again things are different.  They have to find that HEA that we all know they need.  They both have demons that need chasing away before that can happen.

This story is all about love, hope, overcoming your past and moving forward.

I will warn you there are times where this book can be a bit much and dark, but it adds to the story and gives it more depth as well.
