Tor My life was mapped out and planned to perfection. I knew exactly what I wanted and where I was going, until I was thrust into his world and ripped from mine. In the blink of an eye everything shattered, proving to be nothing more than a cheap illusion. Now I’m living in this twisted form of hell, where enemies and friends are one and the same. I thought I wanted perfection. Now I don’t know what I want – perhaps not even my own freedom.
I’m the definition of wrong. I’m violent, I’m greedy, and I stop at nothing to win. I’m a notorious bookie and in my game paying with your life is not just a figure of speech. You lose, I collect. I take whatever you have. She’s collateral for a debt, and if that debt’s not paid someone will die. This should be just business, so why can’t I kill her? Everything is not always as it seems.
Lust. Blood. Lies.
Nothing this wrong should feel so right.
Wrong was my first experience with authors LP Lovell and Stevie J. Cole’s writing and I really enjoyed it. Sometimes it is hard to get a good flow in a story when two authors combine their writing skills, but I think it worked well in this book; the story progressed at a good pace and there weren’t really any slow parts to it. You should be warned going into this book though- the subject matter at times is very dark and twisted and it might not be for all readers!
“Even the devil needs something to break through this darkness at times.”
Jude is a dark and dangerous man, trying to run his family business as a bookie. He does what needs to be done to get the money that people owe him, even if it means hurting someone. What he doesn’t except is for someone to trade their girlfriend in lieu of the money owed to him and he isn’t sure what to do with her.
Victoria “Ria/Tor” is a British young woman trying to finish up her residency in the States, so she can live her dream of being a surgeon. When her idiotic boyfriend offers her up as collateral for a large bet he lost, she finds herself in the hands of some very dangerous men. Not only that, she is in the middle of an old beef between two very vicious men.
“In this world, when someone fucks you up, you fuck them up, or you will never survive.”
This story was told in alternating point of views (POV) between Jude and Victoria, which I always enjoy. Victoria is a fiesty young woman, until she gets broken down and must become someone else to survive. But she doesn’t give up easily and I really admired her strength and perseverance. Although Jude is clearly a violent criminal, he is also a man with a conscious. This isn’t your typical love story and the connection between these two is definitely a slow build.; which was actually refreshing- since so many books rush into it.
“What we have is like a poppy blooming from the blood-soaked soil of war. A beautiful tragedy.”
This is the first book in the series and you should be warned that it does end in a slight (kind of predictable) cliffhanger. Not to worry though, Wrath (book #2 in the series) will be out before too long (I hope!).
Oh, what to say?
I love writing (obvious since I’m on here, right?) I don’t have a specific genre – I just write whatever story manifests its self inside my brain.
Writing is like therapy. There is nothing else that I can lose myself in the way I can a book – the way a well written story can take you away from reality and leave you in a dazed state once you’ve finished… that is unbelievable. I can only hope that whoever reads my work will be sucked into the little world I’ve created on the pages.
Aside from writing, I love sloths and mythology. I kind of have a thing for vampires, because let’s face it, something about the fact that they have to fight the urge to bite your neck and drain the life from you is rather sexy. I have an irrational fear of the zombie apocalypse. I honestly cannot imagine a more horrifying way to go than by being ripped to shreds by a mass of mumbling, decaying, and oozing corpses with clicking teeth. Ugh! I just shuddered typing it.
Now the boring basics: I grew up in the south listening to a ton of grunge rock (I’m sure if you read my books you’ll be able to guess who my favorite bands are). I wanted to major in theatre and creative writing but my parents refused to let me. They told me those weren’t “reliable professions”. Reliable? I’d just rather do something I enjoy!
When I hit 30 I decided to start a bucket list and publishing a book was on the top (followed shortly by meeting a certain celebrity). Proud to report I’ve accomplished both.
So, here I am with my first novel and working on the second one. The journey of writing Bound to the Fallen has been amazing and allowed me to meet many wonderful individuals.
I hope if you read my work that you will enjoy it. After all, writing is the most amazing magic trick of all… it puts the reader in the mind of the writer (kind of creepy if you think about it).
I hope you love my little world as much as I do.
