From the New York Times bestselling author of Taking Chances, From Ashes, and Stealing Harper, comes the new unforgettable adult romance Molly McAdams’ fans have been waiting for—the sizzling story of a young woman who must place her trust in the one man who can break through her defenses.

A night they will always remember…a connection neither can deny…a secret that could destroy it all…

When Kennedy Ryan moves to California, she never expects to come face-to-face with Liam Taylor—the intriguing man who has haunted her thoughts for a year. A man who led her to breaking every one of her rules for a single night of passion that ended up meaning more than it was ever supposed to. Accustomed to disastrous experiences with men, Kennedy shields herself before he can break down more of the carefully built control she’s clung to for the last four years. But every time she sees Liam, she feels her resolve weakening. Liam Taylor has been asked to help socialize his boss’s nieces. But what he thinks sounds more like a babysitting job ends up leading him to the only girl who ever slipped away before morning—a girl he thought he’d never find again. And now that she’s within reach, Liam’s determined to never let her go.

But when a secret from her past tests their relationship, will they be able to cling to the trust Liam has worked so hard to build?

As a huge fan of Taking Chances and Stealing Harper (both books that gutted me by the way) I was really looking forward to, but also a little nervous to read Trusting Liam. I wanted to reconnect with all the characters from the first book in the series that I loved so much, but I also wasn’t sure how it would be reading about Liam as an adult or having a cross-over storyline from Molly’s Forgiving Lies series. But I think she really wrote this book for the fans of these series and all of these characters; its really a homage to all of them.

Kennedy and Kira Ryan, twin daughters of Kash and Rachel from the Forgiving Lies series, are in danger when members of a gang that their dad and uncle took down years ago are getting out of prison. To keep them safe from these threats, the girls are sent to live with their uncle in California. By pure coincidence, and maybe a slight chance of fate, Liam Taylor the son of Harper and Brandon (and Chase) lives in California and actually works for their uncle. He is asked to look out for the girls and help them adjust to life in California. But as soon as they meet, Liam realizes that Kennedy is the girl that got away and the one he has been looking for, after one unforgettable night together a year ago.  But Kennedy isn’t looking to pick back up what her and Liam started, even though she hasn’t been able to forget him either. She holds the idea of love and marriage to ideal that isn’t realistic and she is terrified by the idea of relationships after having her heart broken. So, Liam is really going to have to fight to help her overcome these issues.

“No one was ever worth the chase. But you? You will be worth it every time. I will always chase you, Kennedy.”

One of my favorite parts of this book was getting to read about all of these characters again! Brian, who was one of Chase’s best friends in Taking Chances and Stealing Harper, was just fabulous! He was like this big teddy bear with tattoos and a wealth of helpful advice. Brandon, Liam’s dad, showed once again what a great man he is and just how big his heart is. I had hoped to get more of Harper, I mean she was such a HUGE part of the series, but her part in this book was pretty nonexistent.

I did find that the drama that started at the beginning of the book fell flat and was a bit anticlimactic. I get that there was no reason to really drag it out, but if this big threat was the whole purpose for the storyline- it should have went a bit further. I also felt that Kennedy was too wishy-washy and that Kira did her sister so wrong.. I won’t say more about this to keep this review spoil free though. For me, Liam was really the star of this book!

“You are mine, Kennedy Ryan.”

Although this book would probably be more appreciated by previous fans of Molly’s books, I think it can also be read as a standalone.

Trying not to wake him, I slowly slid out from under his arm and off the bed to search for my clothes. Once I was dressed, I told myself to just leave, but I couldn’t help it—I turned to look at him in the light. I needed to be sure I hadn’t made him up.

The images from last night tore through my mind again when I saw the large, tattooed arm resting where my body had just been. The muscles were well defined even relaxed, and the face had a boyish charm now that he was asleep. Such a difference from the predatory stare and knowing smirk I kept seeing in my mind. Before I could stop myself, I gently ran my fingers through his dirty-blond hair that, now in the sunlight, I could see had a red tint to it. And I knew if he opened them, those arctic blue eyes would once again captivate me.

But I couldn’t risk that.

I’d already stayed too long; I’d already made a mistake with him. Drunken one-night stands weren’t my thing. Drunken one-night stands with strangers in Vegas were even worse.

Straightening, I turned and walked quietly from the room.
