Chloe has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She’s made a promise to herself: don’t let anyone in, and don’t let anyone love her. She’s learned the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she’s focused on being invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road—her dream of freedom, at least for a little while. Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.

One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead.

Chloe has planned to leave, travel, and get away from everything… to just have freedom, for as long as she can remember. The best way to avoid any interruptions to these plans is to stay invisible; to fly under the radar and not let anyone get close to her.

Meeting and falling for Blake Hunter was never part of the plan.

“Something changed. A switch. It felt like someone had taken away the gray dullness behind my eyes and splashed color into them. Like I was seeing things in a different light, from a different life.”

Blake appears to have it all; a wonderful family and friends and a budding basketball career. But not everything is as it seems. Hiding the truth from everyone around him keeps things safe and allows him to pursue his dreams. That is until he meets Chloe and she changes everything for him.

“You’re my unexpectedly phenomenal, Chloe. You’re my red-letter day.”

I believe Jay McLean writes a book boyfriend like no other! With each book of hers I’ve read I’ve fallen in love with the men. Blake Hunter is no exception. From the very beginning of the book he shows how sweet, protective and sexy he can be. That carries through the entire book and he is so amazing! This book is told in dual POV’s- but I loved how it started in Blake’s point of view. Normally we get the female leads side first and I think this helped to really feel both sides of the story.

The love between Blake and Chloe is so powerful, moving, and just special… they save each other. This book was emotional and carried a great message about living each day to its fullest potential.

“You can run, you can hide, you can choose not to see, but where the road takes you will always lead to me.”
