Once upon a time, Nora and Søren made a fateful deal—if he gave her everything, she would give him forever.

The time has finally come to keep their promises.

Out of money and out of options after her year-long exile, Eleanor Schreiber agrees to join forces with Kingsley Edge, the king of kink. After her first taste of power as a Dominant, Eleanor buries her old submissive self and transforms into Mistress Nora, the Red Queen. With the help of a mysterious young man with a job even more illicit than her own, Nora squares off against a cunning rival in her quest to become the most respected, the most feared Dominatrix in the Underground. While new lovers and the sweet taste of freedom intoxicate Nora, she is tempted time and time again by Søren, her only love and the one man who refuses to bow to her. But when Søren accepts a new church assignment in a dangerous country, she must make an agonizing choice—will the queen keep her throne and let her lover go, or trade in her crown for Søren’s collar?

With a shattering final confession, the last link in the chain is forged in The Original Sinners saga. It’s the closing chapter in a story of salvation, sacrifice and the multitude of scars we collect in the name of ecstasy—and love.

I clearly think this might be the hardest review I’ve ever written.  I think I am just at a bit of a crossroads right now and my feelings are a bit jumbly.  If anyone were to ask, “what’s your favorite series?” hands down I always say The Original Sinners series.  I have held this series on a pedestal for the last 3-plus years and have always thought that Søren is the best book boyfriend ever. So I put off read The Queen because I didn’t want to say good-bye to these characters that I’ve grown to love immensely.  But here I am with just a bit of an empty feeling.

You see, I wanted this story to evoke the same emotions that each and every one of the other books in this series did. But, unfortunately, it didn’t. Trust me when I say…I think I am completely the only person.

“We made a deal, remember? You game me forever and I would give you everything. I fully intend to hold up my end of the deal, no matter what it costs me.”

The story starts off the same way the others in this series has, in the present. All we know is that something really important was going to happen at nine o’clock. I will admit I seriously wanted to skip ahead and find out, but my conscious won out.  I had a bunch of things racing through my head on what it could possibly be.

The past detailed her rise as THE dominatrix in Manhattan.  Kingsley knew the moment he met her that she was destined to become Nora Sutherlin, not Eleanor. So, when she returns from her year away he helps her become what she has kept hidden for far too long.  Of course Søren makes his appearance at a time that completely shocked me. I won’t lie and say that my eyes didn’t tear up or my heart beat a little faster.  Eventually she did rise above everyone while making some possible enemies along the way.  I truly did admire the way she knows what’s going to happen two steps before it actually does. She’s always prepared for the worst.

“If it meant your happiness, Eleanor, if it meant bringing you home to me, I’d sell my soul.”

The biggest takeaway I had from this story was the love that Søren has for his Little One. He literally sold a part of himself to give her something at the time she couldn’t.  I think that to me was the most important part of the story. His love for her knows no depth as does her love for him.  But let me reassure you, he does hold all the pieces in this game of chess and knows how they all fall.  This book also detailed their passion more so than the others in my opinion.

As I sit here and type up this review there are tears that are threatening to fall.  In my heart this series is still my favorite.  It’s a completely unconventional love story that has brought me so much joy as well as a number one book boyfriend. Reading this series has been effortless and beyond enjoyable to say the least.
