Synopsis:

ROCK STAR? RECOVERING ADDICT? MURDERER?
Yeah, they all hold true.
How can you explain to someone what it’s like not to care? Not about yourself or the person standing next to you. I’ve lost that, the ability to feel and show affection.
I DO, HOWEVER, HAVE A HEART.
Sometimes, when I chase the dragon, it thunders through my head like a drum, reminding me it still beats.
It’s still there.
HOLLOW. EMPTY. WASTED.
My agent says I have one more shot. A single, solitary chance to stay in the music biz, but there is one massive problem.
HER. SYN LANDRY.

Guest Reviewer Tina Says…

When I get the chance to read a book about a tattooed, bad boy rocker, I am all over it! Rocker books usually involve a hardcore rocker that has hit rock bottom and needs to find his way out. If you are looking to read about a rocker who needs saving, then Wasted Hearts definitely fits the bill.
First we are introduced to Rhye Clark. Rhye is your typical bad boy rocker: he has tattoos, he has an addiction to drugs and to the ladies, and he has many skeletons in his closet. His record label gives him an ultimatum that he has to take. He needs to go to Nashville, work on songs for the Mavericks’ new album with a stellar crew, abide by the nightly curfew that they have set in place for him and participate in weekly drug testing or the label is dropping them. It is a chance for him to get back to his music rather than risking losing everything, including his own life.
“There is nothing about me to be proud of. There never has been.”
Also sent to Nashville is Syn Landry, 19 year old virginal country star, who is trying to get her life back together after a heartbreaking romance ended because of a cheating boyfriend. Syn was sent to work with the same crew of writers and the label wants Syn and Rhye to do a duet together. When Syn sees Rhye, she is instantly attracted to him.. who wouldn’t be! Then she hears him sing, really sing- feeling every emotion that he is feeling and she becomes completely smitten with him.
“I’ve fallen for him…into a million pieces. Separately, the pieces don’t make a lick of sense, but together, all my questions in the universe are answered.”

Can these two people that are so totally different from one another find happiness together? Does Rhye break through all the horrible events of his life that he is still holding onto in order to move forward? Can rock and country crossover?
Rhye is one of the most down in the dumps character, although understandably so. He has masked all of his past pain with sex, drugs, and alcohol, and now Syn forces him to face it all and to feel it all. My main problem with this book is that Syn falls for Rhye so quickly…too quickly in my opinion. Rhye was pretty standoffish from the beginning and I couldn’t connect with how Syn could have fallen so hard for him so fast. I found there to be some excellent writing in this book and I loved the musical influence in it all. If you read the Ruining series, than you must read this book. Although, this is a stand alone book and you don’t have to read Ruining Me or Ruining You to read this book.

I love angst….I thrive on it, but only the fictional kind. I adore a story that grips the reader from the beginning and doesn’t let go…EVER. I’m an avid reader who just recently discovered my love of writing. My favorite things in life include my three wild & crazy kids, Reese’s Pieces, and every genre of music. I reside in the Deep South. Currently, I am writing a new adult/contemporary romance story that I can’t wait to share. I also plan to release Rhye’s story, Wasted Heart, in 2013.
