So you may ask, who is Adam Connor? He is the recently divorced, Academy Award-winning actor who just moved in next door with his kid. He also happens to be an exquisite male specimen and the most infuriating sly bastard I’ve ever come across.
Let’s be honest here, wouldn’t you wanna take a peek over the wall to catch a glimpse of him, hopefully when he is naked? Wouldn’t you melt away after watching him work out as his five-year-old kid cheered him on? Do I even have to mention those abs, the big bulge in his pants, or that arm porn? Oh, wait, you would never spy on him? Sure…
While I was being thoughtful by not breaking and entering and was actually considering going over to offer him a shoulder—or maybe a boob or two—to cry on (y’know, because of his divorce), instead he had me thrown in jail after a small incident. Jail, people! He was supposed to grant me countless orgasms as a thank you, not a jail cell.
After that day, I was mentally plotting ways to strangle him instead of jumping his bones to make sweet love. So what if my body did more than just shiver when he whispered dirty little things in my ear? I can’t be held responsible for that. And when was the last time he’d kissed anyone anyway? Who’d enjoy a kiss with a side of heart attack?
Even if he and his son were the best things since sliced bread—and I’m not saying he was—I couldn’t fall for him. No matter what promises he whispered on my skin, my curse wouldn’t let us be. I wasn’t a damsel in distress—I could save myself, thank you very much—but deep inside, I still hoped Adam Connor would be the hero of my story.
Full disclosure…there is NOTHING to hate about Adam Connor or even this book. This book was literally what I needed to hit that “reading spot”. I fell in love with Lucy in the first book, To Love Jason Thorn and was just waiting for her to get her own. I promise…Ella Maise exceeded my expectations and then some.
Lucy, a self-proclaimed “love victim” moves in with Olive (her bestie) and Olive’s husband Jason after her latest breakup. She also claims she is cursed like all the other women in her family and has said she will never say “I love you” again. To anyone.
During a night that Jason is away, her and Olive start to spy (well, it’s truly stalking) on Adam Connor, the recently-divorced Hollywood Heartthrob next door. I will say, there is a silver lining in her spying that brings her face-to-face with Adam.
“Call me crazy, my little stalker, but I think I like you.”
From the get-go these two have such a ridiculously funny, sexually-charged, love/hate thing going on. Thankfully for Lucy, Aiden, Connor’s son takes quite the shining to her which eventually starts to make Connor see his crazy stalker in a different light.
To be honest, there was nothing I didn’t love about this one. How can you not love such a crazy, neurotic albeit hysterical heroine? I swear…Lucy is a favorite heroine of mine. She can dish out the sarcasm like no one else and she will have you laughing for most of the book. Lucy’s vulnerable side peeks out very seldom but you know it’s there-it’s just buried very deep. Lucy also didn’t realize that Adam Connor was on the horizon and that he may be able to break the curse.
Adam…he is one hot father. I won’t say DILF because honestly, he would be more like a DILM (dad I’d like to marry). He is TOTAL SWOON ladies… His moments with his adorable son will have your heart melting, your heart racing during the HOT scenes and your ovaries bursting when he falls for Lucy. See…total package, right?! Well, and the fact that he is a rich Hollywood actor doesn’t hurt either.
“I will be the one who speaks to your heart, Lucy Meyer, just like you seem to speak to mine.”
I promise, this is a book you will fall in love with just as much as I did. The glitz and glamour along with the salacious gossip added the perfect backdrop. Throw in some drama with an ex-wife and crazy paparazzi and you have even more juiciness. It’s a book that you don’t want to end even though it has such an awesome epilogue. Yes, I totally teared up at that one. And I won’t even get started on the hotness. It’s got the perfect amount of steam!
“I lose track of time when I kiss you.”
Ella has become one of my new go-to authors and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
