A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that — that, I know how to do.

Hmm…what do I love best about Emma Chase’s books? Hands down, it has to be the absolute flipping fantastic male POV. I swear…Ms. Chase writes the best male POVs around.

Sustained is the second book in the Legal Briefs series but can definitely be read as a standalone. Jake is a defense lawyer in DC, he is a pretty big shot actually. He is also a mega womanizer who has gotten himself into quite a pickle…or perhaps his pickle into quite the situation. With casual flings off the table he ends up meeting Chelsea who is now the sole guardian of her six nieces and nephews. That is a huge pill to swallow for just about anyone. For Jack? A huge one!!

Jake and Chelsea had the right amount of chemistry through this book as just friends, before it became a full-fledged relationship. Chelsea’s nieces and nephews were able to break down his walls and not only had me falling in love with them but Jake as well.

There was so much humor and off-the charts sexiness that this book was the perfect thing I was looking for. I mean, I read it within a few hours, so obviously I loved it! I also loved the full circle that Jake went through not only in his relationship with Chelsea but also his job.

I think of all of Emma Chase’s novels, this one was definitely my favorite. Definitely check this one out!!
