She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

Casey Says…..

Protecting What’s His was my pick for this months clean off our Kindle review; it has been sitting on my kindle forever and  I can not even begin to imagine why it took me so long to read something by this author. I enjoyed her writing style so much, not to mention her amazing ability to write a man with a dirty mouth!

“I’ve got an hour before I need to be back at the station. I’ll have fucked you three different ways by then.”

See what I mean…..::: swoon :::!!

The story opens up into the tragedy that is the lives of two sisters- Ginger and Willa. Ginger being the oldest, always took care of and raised Willa in the sporadic absence of their drunken, prostitute of a mother. When opportunity arises for Ginger to get herself and Willa the hell out of Nashville, she grabs the bull by the horns and hightails it to Chicago.

“Pick up the end! I can’t carry the whole thing, skunk-vag!”

“Fuck off! You’re only using one hand!”

“That’s because I’m using the other one to flip you off”

“Well, I can’t argue with multitasking.”

“You would argue with the pope’s mom”

Finally being able to move into a decent place and attempt to start their lives anew, Ginger runs into the sexy as hell, did I mention dirty talking, neighbor from across the hall. Always having been a bachelor Derek Tyler is taken-aback by his reactions to the confident, sexy and smart-ass Ginger. Putting up a fight like no other- Derek is determined to make her his and not just for one night.

“Point taken. But one more thing.” Derek leaned forward, resting his hands on either side of her on the counter, then dipped his head lower. Ginger’s mind reeled as he ran his tongue upward in one long lick of her neck. “The longer it takes me to get between your thighs, the rougher I’m going to be when I finally get there. Understand?”

Ginger attempts to keep their relationship light and only about sex- but Derek is having none of that. He wants her in his life and does whatever it will take to get her there. When Gingers unresolved past stops her from having a future, she decided to do the right thing and close out that part of her life, but sometimes things don’t always work out the way we want them to.

If you are looking for short, sweet, and sexy one, then this book should surely be your next read. The supporting characters were great and it leaves me excited to move onto their stories. I love a hot, sexy read with some substance to go along with it and Protecting What’s His had exactly that.

About Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband of seven years and three-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
