They thought with his execution it would all be over.
They were wrong.
The leader of one of South Florida’s most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs has been put to death by lethal injection. Days later, his family and friends should have been picking up the pieces, moving on. Instead, they’ve been catapulted into a world so twisted and dangerous even the most ruthless among them would be stunned to discover the tangled web of deception, not only on the dangerous streets of South Florida but all the way to the top.
In this gripping follow-up novel to Nine Minutes, Out of Time takes readers from the sun-drenched flatlands of 1950s Central Florida to the vivid tropical heat of Fort Lauderdale to the halls of Florida’s Death Row as we finally learn the gritty backstory of Jason “Grizz” Talbot, the terrifying leader of Satan’s Army motorcycle gang, and the secret he spent his life trying to conceal.
Not even Grizz’s inner circle knows his full story—the tragedy that enveloped his early life, the surprise discovery that made him the government’s most wanted and most feared, and the depths of his love for Ginny, the tenderhearted innocent he’d once abducted and later made his wife.
Once Grizz’s obsession and now the mother of his child, Ginny has spent years grieving the man she’d first resisted and then came to love. Now remarried to Tommy, a former member of the gang, the pair have spent more than a decade trying desperately to live a normal existence far from the violent, crime-ridden world they’d once carved out on the edge of the Florida Everglades. For Tommy, especially, the stakes are high. Desperately in love with Ginny for years, he’s finally living his dream: married to the woman he never thought he could have. But even with the façade of normalcy—thriving careers, two beautiful children, and a genuinely happy and loving marriage—they can’t seem to put the past behind them. Every time they turn around, another secret is revealed, unraveling the very bonds that hold them together.
And with Grizz finally put to death, now Ginny has learned secrets so dark, so evil she’s not even sure she can go on.
Will these secrets tear their love to pieces? And how far will Grizz go to protect what he still considers his, even from beyond the grave?
Stacia & Casey say…
Okay— talk about one of the most anticipated reads of the year! We were literally stalking Beth Flynn’s Facebook page trying to find out when Out of Time would be released and we know we were not the only ones. Can you imagine the pressure that must have put on poor Beth to please all of her Nine Minute fans?!? Not to mention that so many readers were torn between loving Grunt and Grizz. Then there were the readers that had a clear divide and knew which team they were on. #TeamGrizz (Stacia) all the way! #Teamonthefence (Casey) that is until after reading this book and now #TeamGrizz!
Please take note of Beth’s author note at the beginning of this book, because she is 100% right, things surely aren’t always what they seem!
“I didn’t know who I was in this world…. But when you came into my life, I knew who I wanted to be.”
This book honestly, is very hard for us to review. We think with one word or sentence we could spoil the whole book and we don’t want to do that. So, our review is going to be pretty vague. In Out of Time, you will get a glimpse of things that transpired during the events of Nine Minutes; you will also learn things that happened prior to that story and how things are going with the characters after the end of the book. A lot of things will be revealed and questions you had will be answered. But, then you will also learn so much more! This book was one twist and turn after another. With the book bouncing back and forth between so many of the characters past and present- we kind of had a rough time keeping up at times. So much information is given and so many new things came to light that at times it felt like an information overload. The past of so many characters collided in ways that you could have not imagined-and we do give the author a high five for being able to spin a tale so intertwined and deceitful that you have to keep reading to see where it all ends up. When Nine Minutes first came out Beth was overloaded with questions from her readers, and we felt like there were parts of Out of Time that had no real substance and it almost seemed like she was just answering of all those questions. We understand a lot of things had to have closure but we wonder if the author changed the original path she intended this story to go for the sake of her readers.
This book does end in another cliffhanger; but it isn’t a “throw your Kindle and scream” kind of cliffhanger. So, that helps some! We are not sure where else this story can lead us or what else can be thrown our way. But we are still very curious to read the final book in the series and see how it all wraps up.
”The only truth you ever need to know is that my love for you is real and will never go away. And everything I’ve done, no matter how it looks, is so you could be protected. I never wanted to be without you.”
