Lake Jones is a cover girl for cutting-edge prosthetic legs, a binge-watcher of Netflix, known to spy on her neighbor through her door’s peephole, and fond of laser games with her hairless cat. She’s also a bit sexually-frustrated.

Until …

God bestows a breath of mercy upon her in the form of Minnesota’s NFL starting quarterback. But this gift is no stranger. Lake met Cage Monaghan three years earlier.

It was one day.
One moment.
One kiss that resurrected her dreams of finding love.

His dimpled smile distracts from his imperfections, which include: a love for country music, fishing, and a feline-hating girlfriend.

When life finally gives them their chance, it’s a humorous and heart-wrenching journey to find their place in the world.

"We would be Cage and Lake. We would be unpredictable. We would be reckless. We would give normality the middle finger.”

Alexis says…

One is….sweet…romantic…inspirational…sexy…and so f-ing delish I just couldn’t get enough. Seriously, I slow-rolled reading it purely because I didn’t want the book to end.

So, you may remember Cage (AJ’s son) and Lake (Luke’s sister). They had an epic albeit very short time connection. This once in a lifetime meeting paved the way to Lake’s mild (okay, it was a bit bigger) obsession with Cage. Of course he didn’t know anything about her really, he didn’t even know the right town she lived in. This will all make sense if you’ve read the Jack and Jill series…which you NEED to, to fully grasp how powerful their connection is.

Fast forward a few years, Lake is in Minnesota, the state of ten thousand lakes. She’s Netflix-addicted, owns a three-legged hairless cat, and peeps at her neighbor who she’s dubbed Kong, through her peephole. She’s also a cover model and guinea pig for prosthetics as she lost her leg in an automobile accident years ago.

“I love you in a way that makes me want nothing but you.”

What Lake doesn’t realize is that her neighbor is actually an NFL football player and…GASP…he’s teammates with non-other then Cage Monaghan, the man she’s lusted/obsessed/pined over for years.

I know, it’s like fate really worked its magic here, right? What follows is an all-consuming love story about two people who love with everything they have. It’s a love story that will have you hugging your Kindle until the very end. It’s beautiful, and I swear ladies…Cage is just something out of this world. The secondary characters, really all of them, just added that much more fun to the story. I loved Flint the most and I really really hope he gets his own story. There wasn’t as much angst in this book as her others but their love story didn’t need it.

“I love our story. I love it so much, because in every chapter you make me fall in love with you all over again. Le’s never be in love. Let’s fall every day without ever touching the ground.”

There are stories that don’t live up to the hype you’ve given them in your head and ultimately disappoints you. One? Nope, this one exceeded all my expectations. Jewel E. Ann gave Cage and Lake the story they deserved.

I must mention that Jewel did an amazing job writing about an amputee and the struggles they go through. The most important thing about Lake, in my opinion is that she was not defined by her disability. She wore it. She rocked it. She OWNED it. She never felt sorry for herself, she actually was an inspiration for all girls and women alike.

One is just another reason why I am one of Jewel’s number one (pun intended) fans!! This is a must-read but AFTER you read her Jack and Jill series.

When she’s not donning her cape and saving the planet one tree at a time, she enjoys yoga with friends, good food with family, rock climbing with her kids, watching How I Met Your Mother reruns, and of course…heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, panty-scorching novels.
