Their world was sex, love, and lies.
He intoxicated her. Commanded. Consumed.
With a dirty mind and a mouth to match, Clay Nichols is everything Julia never knew she wanted and exactly what she cannot have. He walked into her life one night and unlocked pleasure in her that she never knew was possible. Possessing her body, captivating her every thought. Which makes him way too dangerous for Julia to risk her heart, given that she has a price tag on her head. She ran after one mind-blowing week with him, but now he's back, and determined to make her his own.
No matter the cost.
She was a sexy drug to him. Fiery, unforgettable, and never enough, Julia is an enigma, and Clay isn't willing to let her go without a fight. But she's got dark secrets of her own that threaten to destroy any chance of happiness. She's a wanted woman - the stakes are high, her every move is watched, and yet the lure between them can't be denied. Can two people burned by love trust again when desire and passion are met by danger at every turn?

Warning…this book is not suitable to read on your lunch break with the heat blowing on you.

Before you read this story, you must read the prequel, First Night.  In First Night, Clay and Julia meet and have a torrid weekend affair that leaves them both wanting more.  The problem?  Clay lives in New York and Julia lives in San Francisco.

“The weekend-perfect as it was-would be over.  It would be a delicious memory, but only that.”

Clay stays true to his word and calls Julia to keep their affair going so she flies to New York for the weekend.  Throughout the book, you know there is something keeping Julia from fully putting herself out there for Clay.  Whereas Clay is adamant there cannot be any secrets.  When push comes to shove, can they both fully commit to each other no secrets barred?

“Gorgeous, I’m not your boyfriend.  I’m your lover.”

I really liked Julia’s character.  She is a strong-willed woman who was wronged by her ex-boyfriend and is paying the price of what her ex did to her.  But she does not want to drag Clay into the hot mess she was dealt. Clay on the other hand was everything you want in a book boyfriend.  Hot?  Check!  Rich?  Check!  Dirty-talker?  Fuck yeah!  But, he has some trust issues that stem from an ex-girlfriend.  Julia and Clay together were insanely hot, seriously…I’m not kidding.  From the throes of passion to their witty, yet seriously sexy emails I was rooting for them the whole time.

“I’d fight for you, Julia.  I’d get you everything you wanted. I’d give you everything you wanted.”

This book was so much more than just your run of the mill erotica.  It had humor, characters with depth, and some mystery all bundled into a fantastic book.

Just to warn you, this book does contain a cliffhanger…yes I was screaming “NO” at the end and possibly prolonged my lunch break to finish it. I usually don’t find that I want a longer book, but in this case I was sad that it ended so soon. Don’t worry, the next book comes out on May 12th.
