Edie had spent her whole life planning her future, imagining her husband, her kids, and even which minivan she’d drive. Lucky for her, she didn’t have to wait long, marrying her high school sweetheart right after graduation.

All of Edie’s dreams had come true, until they were no longer her dreams. Unable to deal with the lingering depression caused by having children, she left her whole life behind, walking away from the one thing she'd always wanted.

Donovan Leery loved his wife with everything he had and could never imagine life without her. Until he came home from work one day and found a letter from Edie, explaining she needed a break. Not only leaving him to live his life without her, but alone to raise their three small children.

But what happens when Edie is ready to come home? When she’s ready to fight for it all back? She knew it wouldn’t be easy. But she didn’t care. After spending years getting her life back together, she was ready to fight for her family. And a fight is what Donovan would give her.

She'd fight to make up for her Biggest Mistake.

Alexis says…

The first word that comes to mind is raw. This book was also heartbreaking, highly emotional, and angsty.  It is the sort of book that will have you feeling sorry for someone you’d usually write off immediately for her actions. But Leddy Harper and her talented writing crafted a story that actually made you feel sorry for the female main character and had you rooting for her by the end of the book.

Edie is back in town ready to claim her family after running away two years ago. After suffering from terrible depression and on the verge of a breakdown she comes back to fight for her family.  What she wasn’t expecting or perhaps hoping was that they hadn’t moved on. But it seems that things change and now she has to fight her way back into her family’s life.

I left the synopsis pretty vague because the reader needs to experience what happens when Edie swoops back into town. Things aren’t the same, her husband Donnie isn’t the same, nor are the other family members.  She also isn’t given a free ride to waltz back in and assimilate herself immediately.

The writing is absolutely top-notch in My Biggest Mistake. It’s the type of writing that sucks you in. It makes you feel all the emotions, the highs and lows, and all the feels that Edie and Donnie go through. You would think that you’d automatically hate Edie-I mean how could you not?!  Trust me, you will feel the anguish she is struggling with and your heart will break throughout the book. Your heart will also break for Donnie. You will feel what he did when the love of his life, the person who left him shows back up two years later. You will also get even more upset when you realize how he had to manage with three kids by himself while hoping his wife will eventually show back up.

I knew as soon as I read the synopsis that I was going to fall in love with this book. I didn’t expect to read it within twenty-four hours though. My heart belongs with Donnie though…he was an incredible man and made this book stand out for me.  If you are looking for an emotionally-heavy yet fulfilling story…you must check this one out.

About Leddy Harper

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.

She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.

The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.
