In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby’s brand new series, five best friends open a hot new restaurant, but one of them gets much more than she bargained for when a sexy former rock star walks through the doors—and into her heart.
Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim 1/5 of the credit. She’s determined to make it a success and can’t think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows she’s in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes him—his posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school—he’s all bad boy...exactly her type and exactly what she doesn’t need.
Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to what’s always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed. Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jake’s past finally catches up with him.
Will Addie be torn apart once again or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?
All of Kristen Proby’s book always end up being such a light, fun read just when I need them! So, after several heavy and emotional reads, I picked up Listen to Me and it was exactly was I was looking for. I laughed, I swooned, and I just over-all enjoyed the connection between the characters.
Addison and four of her best friends own and run Seduction, one of the top new restaurants in Portland, Oregon. Looking to spice things up, Addison decides having live talent a few nights a week would be the perfect addition and Jake Keller (former rock star) gets added to the menu- or ummm the entertainment line-up. Right away the chemistry between these two is through the roof. Jake is instantly attracted to Addison, but she wants to keep things professional and after being burned by many “bad boy rocker types” she just isn’t willing to give in. But come on… we know she is going to sooner or later and when she does it is hot, hot, hot!
I not only enjoyed the chemistry between Addison and Jake, but I also enjoyed all the secondary characters. Addison’s best friends (and co-owners of Seduction) were so much fun and were the perfect example of what a group of close friends should be. They had Addison’s back time and time again! I also loved that the book took place in Oregon and especially Portland, which is near and dear to my heart. This book is told in dual POVs (point of views), which I always love!
Most of you know already how much music means to me and music in books, to me just makes the book that much better. So, of course Kristen nailed it with the cover songs that Jake sang and then the two original songs he performed and wrote were amazing!
If you are looking for a cute, light-hearted book with just the perfect amount of drama (that settles quickly and isn’t drawn out) then you will really enjoy Listen to Me! I can’t wait for the next book in the series Close to You, coming this summer, which is about Cami and Landon. Just based on the glimpse we got into these two characters, I have a feeling this book is going to be beautiful!
