What’s the worst thing about wanting a sexy NFL football player? Everyone else wants him, too.

After catching my boyfriend getting deep-throated by a skanky cage girl, I’ve learned my lesson – never date a professional athlete. Never. Besides, I have more important things to worry about, like not blowing my shot to make it as a broadcast reporter. I won’t let anything get in my way, not even the new “it boy” of the NFL and my hot-as-hell neighbor.

What's the worst thing about getting death glares from his new neighbor? It doesn't make him want her any less.

I’ve worked my ass off to make it to the pros. The last thing I need is the complication of a relationship, especially since my last one was a total train wreck. But I can’t stop thinking about the feisty girl next door with the smart mouth. And I’d love nothing more than to show her what to do with that mouth.

Friends with benefits might be the best idea he’s ever had. Or the worst.

Casey Says…..

Coming on the heels of two already amazing books in this series- Kissing Madeline absolutely lived up to my expectations. Dearest Clementine, the first book in this series was a top favorite of mine in 2014 so I was super excited to get my hands on this beauty.

We first meet Maddie and Daren in Dearest Clementine (Dearest #1) very briefly. Maddie interviews Clem and we know that Daren is the asshole that cheats on and breaks Clems heart in high school.  However, remember there are always two sides to every story- and Daren certainly redeems himself.

Swearing off professional athletes after getting burned by her cheating ex- Madeline focuses on her job as a journalist. She yearns to report on issues that make a difference in people’s lives. An absolute workaholic, Maddie rarely has time to enjoy much of a social life.

Making it to the NFL has always been Daren’s goal. A Heisman trophy winner, his focus on football is in top shape. He does not indulge in woman or partying during the season, that is until Maddie shows up on his radar again.

“And isn’t that what every girl wants? To make her guy so crazy with lust he can’t control himself?”

Maddie and Daren share an instant connection. Their sexual chemistry is through the roof and their ability to understand each other is sweet and loving.  The characters have amazing funny and flirty banter and the author’s wittiness she is known for shows itself quiet often. The support system the two main characters build into their relationship gives the reader the ability to build good character depth and I was able to feel their love as it progressed.

“I close my eyes and rest my head on her chest, never more content with my life. And for the first time ever, it has nothing to do with football.”

Lex Martin writes with just enough sex to appease the reader but without making that the stories main focus.  A fantastic twist adds an extra element of depth to the story- and even though it may have been clear what was going on, I really enjoyed the suspense. This book was everything I had hoped it would be and more. I am unsure what is coming next for this author- but I can NOT wait!
