Jagged by Kristen Ashley: Review

Release Date: November 5th, 2013

And old flame rekindled…
Zara Cinders always knew Ham Reece was the one, but he wasn’t interested in settling down. When she found someone who was, Ham walked out of her life. Three years later, Zara’s lost her business, her marriage, and she’s barely getting by in a tiny apartment on the wrong side of the tracks. As soon as Ham hears about Zara’s plight, he’s on her doorstep offering her a lifeline. Now, it will take every ounce of will power she possesses to resist all that he offers.
Ham was always a traveling man, never one to settle down in one town, with one woman, for more time than absolutely necessary. But Ham’s faced his own demons, and he’s learned a lot. About himself, and about the life he knows he’s meant to live. So when he hears that Zara’s having a rough time, he wants to be the one to help. In fact, he wants to do more than that for Zara. A lot more. But first, he must prove to Zara that he’s a changed man.

Leary says…

If you’ve been following us for awhile and have read some of my reviews and seen some of my FB posts then you know that I am a HUGE Kristen Ashley fan. She is my GO TO author when I’m in a book slump and I seriously love all of her books!! As I’m sure I don’t need to go on and on about why I love Kristen Ashley and want to have her babies… I should just tell you how much I love Graham Reece and Zara Cinders.
Zara is a tough cookie, let me tell you!! She’s been through some pretty horrific events in her life that had me hurting for her and her sister. In true KA fashion, we are greeted with an strong, beautiful, witty, and hilarious heroine. I loved Zara and truly respected how hard she has worked throughout her life to try to find happiness that she seemed destined to never find. Zara met Graham Reece years ago and knew early on that he was THE one for her but knew that Ham was not a man to be tied down so she spent years watching him walk away to only come back every couple of months. When Zara finally sees a tunnel to happiness she has to break her own heart and end things with Ham.
Is a lifetime of happiness possible without Reece?
Ham…we briefly met Graham Reece in the first book in The ‘Burg series For You. If you’ve read For You then you can probably recall who Graham was in the book..if not then you’ll be reminded or you’ll get a bit of a spoiler in Jagged. Ham has some major demons that have made him in to the traveling man that he is. Not only does he to battle back demons from what happened in For You but he has MAJOR demons from before the events in For You. Ham does not trust women. He does not let women in but all the women know the score, they have fun but nothing serious and he doesn’t stick around in town for long. Never does he double back to the same woman…except for Zara. For years Ham has found himself traveling the country but always taking the time to make it back to Carnal to spend time with Zara. After years of Zara watching Ham walk away..he finally gets a taste of his own medicine. Three years later, Zara finds herself at an extremely low point. Just like all those years ago..when Zara needs help, Graham is there to support her. Is he finally ready to battle his demons and lay down roots?!

I really did love their story. I was extremely excited when I got an advanced copy..seriously..I squealed!! Jagged is the fifth book in the Colorado Mountain series and it did not disappoint!! As usual, there are great back stories in Jagged for both Zara and Ham that had my heart hurting for both of them. I couldn’t believe some of the things that they have both been through.

The chemistry between Zarah and Graham is OFF THE CHARTS!! Absolutely loved them together and thoroughly enjoyed their scenes..you know what I’m talking about!! KA can’t bring us back to Carnal without giving us some action from old characters! I think that is one of my favorite parts about reading a KA book..we always get to meet up with previous characters!!

I did feel like Jagged was missing the usual action we are used to…where were the kidnappings, bombings, murders, etc?! Although we missed out on the normal action we get in a KA book I really felt like it was made up with an AMAZING back story and some really heart breaking moments. I could not get enough of Zara and Ham..I’ve already re-read the book a few times!!

You don’t want to miss out on the Colorado Mountain series. See below for the series reading order! FYI, you can read Jagged without reading For You…just beware you will get some spoilers for For You.
