2013 has been a great year for all of us.Three Girls and a Book Obsession isn’t even 6 months old, but the growth and the amount of love we have seen from our followers has blown our minds!!
To help celebrate and ring in the new year, we wanted to thank all of our lovely followers with an AMAZING giveaway. We appreciate all of your support and be sure and look for some new and exciting things we have planned in 2014!
Our Top Book Picks for 2013
We also wanted to share our top book picks of 2013 with you. We all struggled, but were finally able to narrow it down to 2 books each. These are books that we each LOVED, we couldn’t get over, we could read again and again, we would gladly take with us on a deserted island… you get the idea!
LEARY– Picking my two favorite books of the year really wasn’t that hard for me..I obviously would choose from my two favorite authors! As everyone probably already knows, I’m in LOVE with Kristen Ashley and Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This is a spin off from the Lux series..yum, those aliens really get me!! hehe I know, I’m crazy. What I LOVED about this book is we got to spend time with the Arum (the enemies of the Lux) and I came to understand more about them and not hate them as much. This book can be read as a standalone but obviously I recommend reading the Lux series first!
The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley
Definitely a favorite of mine for the year because it showed what a magical mind Kristen has. I have loved 99% of her books and completely fell in love with this one. It is raw and gritty (beware, the beginning is a lot to take) but she creates this entire new world (which we see throughout the series) but she also creates a completely new language that is used throughout the entire book. I was amazed with her creativity.
ALEXIS- Wow…coming up with two of my favorite books of 2013 was VERY hard. But, I looked back through my Kindle and found the two that were the most thought provoking, intense, and at some point, maddening reads. On a side note, both of my books are standalones and tied up with a pretty bow!
Arsen: A broken love story by Mia Asher
I think the word intense pretty much sums up this book. My stomach hurt throughout the entire book and I loved every single minute of it. This book had me reeling for days and I can’t even go into it because my blood pressure might spike. Wow…and the epilogue…I still get chills from it. I wanted to hate the heroine Cathy SO much…but I just couldn’t; she was flawed but the reader ends up feeling for her.
Going Under by S. Walden
It is no secret that I have an author crush on S. Walden. I swear, the minute that I finished this book, I went ahead and gifted this book to at least 5 of my girlfriends. This book has it all, mystery, intrigue and steaminess that is totally unexpected. The actual storyline can be a bit disturbing but that is what I love about it. S. Walden pushes the envelope and that is exactly what I love about her. On a side note, I swear I will never think of video-gaming the same way ever again.
STACIA– I really had a hard time picking only two books; especially considering I read over 250 books this year. I took this challenge seriously and wanted to share two books with you that were completely different than others I have read and that were books I could (and have) read more than one time. Two of my top reads of 2013 are:
Beauty from Pain by Georgia Cates
With Beauty from Pain, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a new release and I didn’t know anyone that had read it, so I was going in pretty blind. I was very quickly HOOKED. It had a little bit of everything: angst, sexy-steamy scenes, comedy-romance, musical references, and best of all Jack Henry!! I have read this little gem 3 times now and each time it gets better and better for me. It has become my go-to book when I am in a rut and just need a little more JH (Jack Henry). Beauty from Pain is DEFINITELY a must read.
Tangled by Emma Chase
When I picked up Tangled by Emma Chase and saw that it was written entirely in a male POV, I was intrigued. Once I got into it, I was BLOWN AWAY! Emma is brilliant, amazing, outstanding…. should I keep going? Being in Drew Evan’s head was fan-freaking-tastic! He is hilarious, sexy, sarcastic, and definitely a man’s man. Tangled became one of my favorite books of 2013 and I seriously recommended it to anyone that would listen.
TINA– When the girls asked me to pick 2 books from 2013 that I would read over and over again or that were my favorites, I was stumped! I have read over 230 books this year, so to narrow it down to just 2 was no small feat! I have enjoyed so many great books and have many, many favorites. I looked back over my list of books that I have read and these 2 just jumped out at me. I have already reread Beautiful Bastard at least twice and I know I will be reading This Man Confessed again as soon as I can! Both books have one common factor: a crazy, sexy alpha male!! I just can’t seem to get enough of those hot men that sometimes leave me shaking our heads, but with a big goofy grin on my face. My two selections are:
Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren
One book that I could read again and again is Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren. When I first heard of this book, I read reviews and they were slightly mixed. People either seemed to love or hate it, mainly because people were saying that there was too much smutty goodness. Being a HUGE fan of the smutty goodness, I bought it and read it practically in one sitting. Bennett Ryan was quick to rank up there on my list of favorite book boyfriends. That man oozes sexiness and Beautiful Bastard became one of my favorite panty ripping reads! If you give this book a try, fitting rooms will take on a whole new meaning to you and you will wish you could be Chloe.
This Man Confessed by Jodi Ellen Malpas
For me, one of the most highly anticipated books of 2013 was This Man Confessed. We were left hanging at the end of Beneath This Man and as soon as This Man Confessed was live, I started it immediately. Jesse Ward is a man after my own heart. He is by far one of the best alpha male characters that I have read. He is British, sexy, and has a ridiculous fascination with peanut butter. When he begins his countdown, 3-2-1-0 baby, I am left shaking in my boots. I would “make friends” with Jesse Ward any day of the week! This book was the perfect ending to the series!
