She upholds the law. He breaks it.

Two blue hearts, both alike in bravery
In not-so-fair London, where we lay our scene
From gun crime to petty theft
Where family is blood and survival makes hands unclean
In this place, we find two hearts who should be foes
And yet, amidst the turmoil their love still grows
Misadventure abounds and the divide will bring them strife
But with luck, death doesn’t always mean an end to life.

Hearts of Blue is a standalone contemporary romance that tells the story of star-crossed lovers Karla Sheehan and Lee Cross, a police constable and the thief who steals her heart.

Alexis says…

L.H. Cosway has completely captured my heart with Hearts of Blue.  Of the entire Hearts series, this one is hands down my favorite.

You may remember Karla and Lee from King of Hearts. Karla is Alexis’s roommate and Lee is Stu’s (Alexis’s ex) brother.  Even from King of Hearts you could tell that Karla and Lee would have this insane chemistry.

Lee and Karla are from opposite sides of the law.  Karla is a constable (police officer) and Lee is an almost Robin Hood-esque criminal.  They end up crossing paths a bunch and ultimately start to fall for each other. For Lee, Karla is a no-brainer. But it’s Karla that is having a hard time with the ethical side of having a relationship with a criminal. Unfortunately, Lee and his brothers become the bullseye of a police investigation and Karla is forced to pick what is most important to her, love or her job.

“We are stronger in the places that we’ve been broken.”

Lee is this sexy, tatted criminal who loves to cook a good meal.  He also seems to wear his heart on his sleeve and will do everything and anything for the people he loves. Plus…he does parkour which I am dubbing the new hot guy sport. If you have never heard of it…Google it! I know that Lee is a criminal, but his reasonings are sound.  He was trying to make a better life for his family and it breaks my heart a bit. Karla is that thing that gives him the peace of mind to leave that all behind, but leaving that life comes with a steep price.

“I’d never loved before. Now I loved too much. And in the morning, I’d lose him.”

I was a bit worried at first that I wasn’t going to like Karla. But L.H. created a great female heroine. She was determined to make a name out of herself as a constable and run with the guys.  She wanted to prove her father wrong with his assumptions that women shouldn’t be in the force.  But what made me like her the most was the inner turmoil she had regarding her relationship. She had to figure out how she felt about Lee and his doings. She also learned a great deal with how at times, the law can be a bit fuzzy and gray.

“Hurting with you is better than a painless life without you.”

I must also talk about Lee and Karla and their sexy times. Oh dear lanta…these two nearly combust between the pages and I loved it!  Of all the stories, for me, Karla and Lee had the best chemistry.

Like I said above, this one is my favorite of the entire series. Don’t worry, I truly believe you can read this one as a standalone. And…can we talk about how pumped I am that we are getting two more stories about the Cross brothers?! Yes please!

Lee didn’t answer, and instead he took a step forward, forcing me to back up if I didn’t want us to collide. The problem with this meant my back hit the wall a moment later.

“You’re so pretty, Snap,” he said, voice low, as he dropped his face to my hair and breathed in.

I wasn’t wearing a hat, and my hair was tied up in a bun. My entire body trembled when he wrapped his arms around my waist, inhaled deeply and pulled me into a hug. This was a distraction, I knew it, and yet, I let him distract me. I wanted to be distracted, and I was just glad that the blinds in his office had been pulled.

Standing in his embrace for at least a minute with silence all around us, I was unable to move. I liked having Lee close, loved the feel of him and how he could make feel so…surrounded. Despite all the warning signs, my attraction to him only grew stronger. There was just something about him that called to me.

His mouth moved against my hair. “What is it, Karla?”

“Why are you hugging me?”

“You looked like you needed to be held.” His response was low, and the affectionate undertone had me swallowing deeply. At long last I summoned the willpower to break the hug. His arms fell away from me easily, my stomach churning with confusion. What the hell was I doing?

I stared at the floor when I spoke. “I have to go.”

Heading for the door, I paused when he said gently, “Hey, I needed it, too.”
