See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.
In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.
Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.
Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?
This book is intended for mature audiences
“She’s oil on my troubled, deep, dark waters.”
The anticipation for this book from SO many Fifty Shades of Grey fans was truly incredible. But on that same note, it might have put this book on a pedestal that was pretty hard to live up to. Not to mention the fact that male POV and companion novels are really hard to make successful; fans expect so much more from the story but also want to hear everything from the male main characters point of view.
With that being said, I really enjoyed being in Christian Grey’s head. I mean come on people, it’s Christian F**king Grey…. he was probably my first true book boyfriend and the FSOG (Fifty Shades of Grey) series touched me on so many levels. It brough back my love of reading, I connected with characters almost to the point of obsession, and I read this series more times then I could count.
“I could really take care of you.”
Unless you are going into this book as a new reader to the series (or have been living under a rock for the last couple of years), then you all already know the story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. But with this book, we get to read the story through the eyes of Christian and we also get so much more of the story. I know not everyone is going to agree, but me personally I would love to read Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed in his POV. For me this book really brought back my love for this series. I loved it!!
“Ana. Stay with me. You’re mine. I love you, too.”
I am usually very leary of alternate POV’s. Many times I have had heros and heroines ruined for me because I read the book in their POV and it just doesn’t work out. With that being said- I was super nervous going into Grey. I mean come on….he. is. CHRISTIAN. GREY. and the face behind the book that took me off the paranormal train and hooked me on romance. My expectations were HUGE going in. When I hit around the 10% mark I started seeing negative reviews coming in and got really nervous, then I realized it was people complaining that it was the same story, just in Christian’s POV….well DUHHHH doesn’t the book say Fifty Shades of Grey as told by Christian? Anyhow……forward I moved and WOW am I glad I did.
My love of this story was reignited, and being inside Christian’s head as the story of him and Anastasia meeting was fantastic to read. Understanding what made him tick the way he did and the deeper reasonings we were unable to see in Ana’s POV really made for a great read. Remember all those parts in the original Fifty Shades of Grey that made you swoon, and fan yourself? Well imagine reading them again but from a different perspective. I am always a sucker for a hot millionare CEO and Mr. Grey most certainly never disappoints.
I personally pray that E.L. James has book two and three in the works because I will without a doubt be impatiently waiting.
