Jackie Gardner knows all about dirty little secrets. The illegitimate daughter of one of the most influential senators in Washington, D.C., she grew up surrounded by the scandals and shadows of politics. Now that she's landed an internship with a powerful political consulting firm, she's determined to launch her career and take this city by storm.
William Andrew Clayton was born for politics. He knows the drill: work hard, play discreetly, and at all costs, avoid scandal. At twenty-six, his campaign for the Virginia State Senate is the first step to cementing his future. It's time for him to settle down, to find the perfect political spouse. He needs a Jackie Kennedy, not a Marilyn...
When Jackie meets Will in the bar of the Hay-Adams Hotel, sparks fly. But the last thing Will needs is to be caught in a compromising position, and an affair with a political candidate could cost Jackie her career. When what began as one steamy night, becomes a passion neither one of them can walk way from, they must decide if what they have is really love, or just another dirty little secret...
Flirting with Scandal was my first read by Chanel Cleeton and I absolutely adored it. It’s the type of book that you don’t want to put down-it and will completely suck you in.
Jackie is a twenty-one year old college student interning at the best political consulting firm in DC. She knows her stuff when it comes to politics and is driven to succeed and win a coveted job at the firm. Her mom is a professional mistress to many politicians and her father is a state senator who has never acknowledged her. After a hellish day, she drowns her sorrows at a hotel lobby bar and meets Will. Immediately sparks fly, which leads them back to Will’s townhouse. When she sees a picture of her father in his townhouse, she flees. The next day, she is handed a new assignment at work…to work for Will and his campaign to become Virginia’s next senator.
“Anyone would be lucky to be involved with you. I’m lucky you kissed me. So fucking lucky.”
Jackie was an awesome chick. She did not want to become like her mom and fought tooth and nail to be taken seriously. She worked her ass off and honestly was just super cool. I may have a bit of a crush on her (and yes, I know she’s not even real). Will was all sorts of swoony and boy did he have a mouth on him. Gah…it was beyond hot! Together these two had such chemistry and complemented each other perfectly. I will say that they both fell in love a wee bit too fast which is usually a huge no-no for me, but for some reason it worked in this book.
I have to say I love the way this story was told. It had a bit of a Gossip Girl feel to it with the blog posts. I also liked the dual POV; it flowed perfectly in this book.
This was the first book in a three-part series, and I already can’t wait for the next one. If you are looking for a fun and sexy book, one-click this one!
