My mother tried to destroy me. She doesn’t exist to me anymore and my father, the one who raised me and the biological one, are both works in progress. The only two people that I can trust are Mason and Logan, and they’re the two people who I could lose. It won’t happen. I won’t let it. No matter the truth, no matter who loves me, I won’t let anything or anyone come between us.
They’re my world. They’re my life.
They’re my family.
Oh how I freaking missed the threesome fearsome!! I didn’t think I could love Mason and Logan more than I did in the first three books alas…it’s happened again, I love them so much more! I was a bit hesitant to read this book after how the third book ended (side bar, if you haven’t read the first three books – stop what you’re doing and go read them & them come back and read my review!!) but knowing Tijan’s writing and storytelling I knew she would make it okay.
What I loved most about Fallen Fourth Down was that we got to see Sam seriously try to take care of things on her own now that Mason is at college and she’s trying to avoid Logan as she’s scared to death about the revelation from the last book! There were definite times that Sam had me wanting to pull my hair out, seriously..that girl can be super frustrating, COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE, COMMUNICATE (I’m saying this is Ross’ voice from Friends with the whole Pivot scenario).
Anyways, back to my review..it was definitely a different dynamic with Mason being gone and it was super hard on both of them. They didn’t get to see each other as much but I loved that this made their relationship stronger, having to work on trusting each other and using their time wisely when they did get to see each other. I also freaking loved that in between each chapter Tijan put in pictures of text messages between Sam and Mason, some had me cracking up and some were really freaking sweet!
I can’t talk about this series and not mention Nate – just beware, Nate is definitely not the greatest friend in this book but you can totally understand his motives…I just couldn’t get over the fact that he was sooo not on Mason’s side through most of the book. Nate – I hated you during this book. We need to be friends again, work on that!
There were points during the book that I thought “hmm…did we really need this book, I feel like not that much has happened..” but then I kept chugging along and BOOM, secrets are revealed and shit hits the fan and truths come out. THIS..this is why I read Tijan. She always pulls things out of nowhere and slaps you in the face with it! If you haven’t read this series you definitely need to pick it up, the high school drama is up the wazoo but it definitely is surrounded by adult problems that face these teenagers. Also, you need to read these books in order, they are not standalones!
