Equal parts Dexter and 50 Shades, this is the eagerly awaited follow-up to the daring erotic thriller, The Girl in 6E, by A.R. Torre.
1. Don't leave the apartment.
2. Never let anyone in.
3. Don't kill anyone.
The rules were simple and I broke them.
Now I must face the consequences.
Everyone else must face me.
Wow…this book was intense. Well, I think intense puts it lightly. If you haven’t read The Girl in 6E, then you most definitely need to do it before starting this one.
Do Not Disturb picks up a little bit after the first book. Deanna is slowly integrating herself into a more normal life while still working her days as a sex-cam girl. She is also in an actual relationship with Jeremy, her UPS deliveryman.
“There has to be a plan. I have to have a purpose. I am, despite all that rots in my core, a good person.”
While assimilating herself and trying to live in the real world she is also fighting her dark urges. I didn’t connect with Deanna in the first book like I did in this one. I had to admire her and the way she goes about solving problems. She’s not a flowery-type of gal, but you know that she holds the people or person she considers as family dear to her heart. She will do anything for them but doesn’t show it in the way most people would. But then again, that’s why I like her so much. She’s beyond calculated and so smart that it literally boggles my mind. I know that the synopsis says that this book is parts Dexter and 50 Shades, but I think that Deanna has a bit of Lisbeth Salander (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo)
It’s not until she finds herself in a cat and mouse situation that the book hits its stride. I literally was on the edge of my seat while seeing how this story would play out. I’m not spoiling anything about the one…you must read it.
“In this moment, I give him my soul. And he takes away the death and fills me with life.”
What I love so dearly about Alessandra’s books is how she slowly lets all the pieces of the story fall into place. There were a few gasp-like moments for me while other places had my heart skipping so fast. I have read every single book by Alessandra and every single time I’m just in awe with what she comes up with. Her stories are so original and the writing is beyond phenomenal. I swear I have the ultimate girl crush on Alessandra and it gets bigger with each and every book I read.
There is a part at the end of the Author’s Note where there might be an option for another book. Psst…please, please I need some more Deanna, Jeremy, and Mike.
