Conner Burke never expected Sofie Callahan to come back.

Where she’s been for the last two and half years is a mystery, and so is the reason she left in the first place. Now, though, she’s back in their hometown of Shelton Bay, South Carolina, at the same time Conner’s band Dirty B. is home on a tour break.

Sofie Callahan has spent the months since her father’s death avoiding anything to do with her hometown. But with her brother in Afghanistan, she has no choice but to return and sort out her father’s house, even if it means facing the boy she fell in love with and revealing the reason she left.

Conner has questions, and when his broken heart and her guilty one collide, Sofie has to start answering them. Their present is rocky, their future unknown. Only one thing is certain: Sofie’s daughter will change everything.

Stacia says…

The synopsis of this book sounded so intriguing; I mean hello rock stars, first love and dirty secrets. I was all about finding out what skeletons these characters had in their closets!

The Burke brothers Tate, Aidan, Kye, and of course Conner, make up the popular band Dirty B. Although they have made it big and can live anywhere, they still head home on their breaks from touring to Shelton Bay; the place that holds so many memories, that Conner would rather forget. Sofie Callahan is the one that got away and the love of Conner’s life. When she left over 2 years ago with no explanation, she took a piece of Conner’s heart with her. Now she’s back in town, at the same time as the band is, and the secret she wanted so badly to hide is about to be exposed and in a big way.

“I had to run and let him follow his dreams… I couldn’t be the person that ruined everything for him.”

This book was well written and definitely had an interesting premise. There was some humor, sarcastic comments, and of course sexy scenes, I love when authors include all of these things in their books! I do think that a lot of the story was dragged out and wasn’t necessarily needed, as it didn’t add anything to the book. Also, the entire story took place over a three to four week period, which seemed a little unrealistic and didn’t really give me time to connect with the characters. I felt like Sofie was kind of all over the place and while I did like Conner’s character, I fell more in love with Mila and the Burke brothers and their personalities. This is a series, so we can only assume (and hope) that the next book will be about Tate, as he was my favorite. I think his book could be hilarious!

“I can’t hate you, Sof. I tried, I tried so fucking hard, but I love you too damn much.”
