From the acclaimed bestselling author of Lost to You and When We Collide comes a New Adult novel of one woman’s obsession: a man who’s as passionate as he is elusive—and as tempting as he is trouble... Aleena Moore is haunted by Jared Holt. It’s been six years since she’s seen her brother’s best friend, the self-destructive bad boy she secretly loved in high school. As the years pass, she knows it’s time to move on. Time to decide between a practical nursing degree and her true dream as an artist. Time to get over Jared and give another guy a chance... Just when she opens her heart to her friend, Gabe, Aly returns home to find Jared sleeping on her couch. The teenage boy she loved has grown into a man she can’t resist. Covered in tattoos and lost in rage, he’s begging to be saved from his demons—the memories of the day he destroyed his family. As the two reconnect, their passion is hot enough to torch Aly’s judgment. But can she risk her future for a man who lives on the edge of destruction?

Alexis says…

Come to Me Quietly defines the term slow burn. Once the book hit 60%, I felt like I was thrown into a whirlwind. I felt the gauntlet of emotions while reading this book: heartache, tears, frustration, you name it and I felt it.  I have read all of A.L.’s books and I must say that this one is different than the others.

The story is about two broken people, Aleena (Aly) and Jared.  Aly grew up hanging out with her brother Christopher and his best friend Jared.  By the time she is 13, she realizes that she is in love with Jared.  After an unfortunate yet very tragic event happens, Jared leaves town.  Flash forward a few years later when Aly is a 20-year old going to college and living with her brother. She is content, and dating someone or for a lack of better words, stringing him along.  When she comes home one night and finds Jared in her apartment… boy does her life and heart come to a halt.  Since Jared has been away, he has been living with the guilt of the event that made him leave town many years ago.  He literally is broken after medicating himself with women, drugs, tattoos, and liquor.

Aly and Jared’s love story at first starts off slow but once they give into the pull the universe is giving them it’s nothing short of beautiful.  Both are so damaged, Aly from losing her heart to a boy so many years ago and Jared is just way too grief-stricken and truly believes he cannot have his happy ending.  The story was told in 3 different POVs, the past, Aly’s, and Jared’s.  Aly brings out the best in Jared and gives him the hope that he needs to be able to have a normal life and to actually feel again. The past POVs in my opinion were the best.  You.  Literally.  Feel.  Everything.  My heart broke over and over for Aly and Jared and just wanted them to be able to find that happy medium.  I can’t even talk about the last 10% right now.

This book is the first in a series.  But, there is not a cliffhanger at the end of this book.
