HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF SUCH A GENRE—THE LIGHTER SIDE OF DARK?

Everyone will have their own definition of "Dark" vs. "Contemporary", and perhaps there is a mixture of the two. I like to call this the “Grey” genre.

However, there is one thing for certain; you haven't ever read this type of story before. Blyss is an original, one of a kind storyline in theme, circumstance, and character action.

You will definitely need all three books in order to put together the pieces of this puzzle, but isn't that what makes reading fun? Embrace the thrill, the suspense, and the anticipation. Each book is full of twists, turns, and "I didn't see that one coming" moments. There is a romance story amongst all the turmoil…you will just have to hang on for the ride.

*~*~*~*

Blyss is something the world has been trying to create since the beginning of time, the ultimate aphrodisiac. A drug that's used against women with one single purpose in mind….

Julianna Oakley has just finished up her junior year at college and flies home to spend her last free summer with her father on their prestigious Georgia estate. Julianna isn't your typical spoiled, rich girl, prima donna. She's down to earth and has an independent streak a mile wide, insisting she make her own way in this world.

Nick has been setting the stage for a long time, and sparks fly when their separate worlds collide. She is Nicks' ultimate obsession, and he will stop at nothing to own her.
When Travis, Nick's right hand man, lays his eyes on the prize all hell is about to break loose.

Travis should know Nick is playing for keeps, and while Julianna is fighting for her freedom, a lifetime full of secrets and twisted perceptions slowly unravel as Julianna gets caught in the fray.

Stacia Says…

After reading the “warning label” attached to this synopsis, I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. But, I was definitely intrigued.

The summer before her junior year in college, Julianna is forced to head home to spend time with her father. I don’t know why, but this right away made me suspicious of him. At this point Julianna is almost 21 years old and an an adult- why does she choose to leave her boyfriend/fiancée of 3 years and obey her fathers wishes?

Well apparently her father has enemies that have been watching and planning to get their hands on Julianna, for years. Her being home for the summer just makes things that much easier for them. Being that her father is so powerful, I would have thought the heavy forces of bodyguards and security he has employed, would be enough to keep her safe, but apparently not.

The two men in this book couldn’t be more different– Nick is a powerful man. He takes what he wants and is used to getting his way. What he wants this time is for Julianna to be his. Travis is his right-hand man and is tasked at training Julianna to be submissive so she can be Nick’s forever. Nick came off a little stalker-ish and creepy to me, but Travis seemed more protective, attentive, and gentle with Julianna.

The difference between this “captive” type story and others is Blyss. Blyss is an aphrodisiac of sorts that has been developed to help calm women into a new way of thinking. It makes submission and training a whole lot easier, while increasing the sexual appetite. It seems to be the perfect drug for those in the human trafficking business- or that is what they are hoping.

It took me about 30% to really get into this story. At first I found it a bit too similar to other stories in this genre and a little slow. I also felt that the disclosure (given to readers in the synopsis) kind of gave the reader too much anticipation of what was to come. I kept waiting for those “twists and turns” or the “I didn’t see that one coming” moments that we were promised.  I will read the other books in the series, because I want to see where this trilogy goes.
