Beat of the Heart by Katie Ashley: Blog Tour and Review

Beat of the Heart (Runaway Train #2)

After years of bad relationships and a cheating ex-fiancé, twenty-eight-year-old Mia Martinelli prefers healing her patients’ hearts on the Cardiac Care floor rather than risking having her heart broken again. But that all comes to a screeching halt when caring for the head roadie for Runaway Train puts her into the orbit of drummer and Latin Lover, AJ Resendiz. After a scorching weekend of steamy passion, Mia’s intention of getting out with her heart unscathed is challenged by the stud with the wicked sense of humor, especially when he wants to continue seeing her. But when the harsh reality of AJ’s hoard of female admirers sends her insecurities into overdrive, Mia bails, leaving him handcuffed to his bathroom shower.
AJ never imagined that after two weeks of the best sex and female companionship he’d ever experienced, he would need rescued by his band mates from his shower prison. Although he tries to forget the sensual brunette whose curves made his mouth water, AJ can’t get her out of his mind…or his heart. Months later when he finally seeks Mia for answers as to why she left, nothing could prepare him for their life-altering reunion.
Can AJ prove to Mia that regardless of the women after his body, his heart belongs only to her?

Leary says…

AJ IS MINEEEEEEEE!!! Keep your grubby little hands off of him, I will cut you! Just kidding, that’s a little intense, but seriously, AJ stole my heart in Beat of the Heart. I thought I totally loved Jake after reading Music of the Heart but I really didn’t even know the meaning of love until AJ. Ohhh boy did this Latin Lover get my heart beating!!
Mia…oh Mia. She is a Sicilian spit fire and has absolutely no trouble going head to head with alpha male AJ. My favorite books of all time all involve alpha males with sassy spit fire women and Beat of the Heart gave me that. Although Mia has no qualms going head to head with AJ she has major issues that stem from previous relationships that play a big part in keeping her heart guarded.
Throughout Beat of the Heart we obviously get to see all the bandmates from Runaway Train and catch up with Jake and Abby. In addition, we get to meet Mia’s fantastic, huge, and loving Sicilian family and her fantabulous best friend Dee who apparently is just like LaFayette from True Blood. Oh oh…guess what?!?! Another character from a different Katie Ashley series makes an appearance!! LOVE IT!!!! I’m not going to tell you who, you will just have to read the book to find out!
We get a really great story between two people that have the biggest hearts. There is such strong passion between the Italian spitfire and Latin lover but there is also a really troubling backstory that grabs hold of you heart and squeezes it tight. I seriously fell in love with Mia and how strong -willed she was but was also so utterly broken inside. The way that AJ handled Mia was utterly breathtaking but there were so many times that I wanted to just reach into my Kindle, grab ahold of Mia and yell at her to just WAKEEE THE F UP AND PAY ATTENTION!!
I have a sneaking suspicion who the two people are going to be in the next book and I seriously can’t wait!! Seriously…I was creepily rubbing my hands together thinking about what’s going to go down. If you’re curious, read Beat of the Heart and you might figure it out as well!
