Synopsis:

Celeste Hebert has always appeared to have it all, but there are many things she’s never had, been forbidden from having.
One night.  One song.  One kiss.  The perfect trifecta to unleash the floodgates of a forbidden attraction between the widow and her husbands bad boy cousin, Adrian.
Celeste endeavors to rebury the feelings that surface after this one night since her powerful family despises him..  Kindred spirits, best of friends they attempt to douse their attraction; however, Adrian always seems to know exactly how to push her buttons and may prove too much to resist.
Having defied his family by making his way on his own terms, Adrian struggles to regain their acceptance.  When he meets his cousin’s wife and wants her for his own, he feels he’s finally lived down the title-black sheep.  But, when his cousin dies unexpectedly, Adrian fights his attracting and swears to honor them both by helping her raise her boys.
Finding himself enveloped in a cocoon of love and acceptance, Adrian knows it’s more than just physical attraction.  However, unforeseen events threaten to destroy those he now holds dear and his newfound peace.
Will the ties that bind them be their undoing?

Alexis says…

This story revolves around Celeste, a 37 year old widow with three adorably cute young boys.  Her saving grace has been her late husband’s cousin, Adrian who has helped her raise the boys for the last few years.  Slowly she comes to the realization that she is down-right in love with him and he with her.  Because of their family (which I’m envisioning as a Sopranos-like family) they cannot be together or so it seems.
“That kiss…that kiss was exceptional, and I’ll never forget it.  As I stand here and as long as I live it was the best I’ve ever had, the best I could ever have.”
I adored Celeste, plain and simple.  She was a strong, confident woman with a closet I would die for.  I think I was most happy when she took the bull by the horns and FINALLY stood up to her family after all the shit they put her through.  I can’t imagine living a life with a family who dictates who you need to marry even though you don’t love them, as well as sweep their discretions under the rug.  On a funny note, Celeste loves Chandler Bing from Friends just as much as I do it seems.
“Over me?  To be over me, babe, you’d have to be under me.  And, if you’d ever been under me, there’d be no getting over me.”
Adrian…wow, yep he was just delish.  From the way he raised the boys, to his passionate feelings for Celeste just made me swoon hard for him.  And boy, did he know the fine art of wooing.  The way he sacrificed himself to make sure Celeste’s well-being was secure just made my heart crumble.  He was a solid winner for me down until he did something that made me want to throw my Kindle across the room.  But, I was dealt a reprieve by the end of the book, so I feel much better.
“Our past might have been rocky, but I think our future’s inevitable.”
I also want to say that I love how the author used New Orleans as the backdrop to this story.  I recently went to New Orleans and fell in love with the city. I literally felt like I was back there with her mention of the French Market and Café du Monde.
“I’m so wooed I can’t see straight”
The letters in the latter part of the story were also heartwarming.  They brought out the super cute alpha male in Adrian, the inner bad girl in Celeste, and just pure sweetness between the boys.
I would love to give this book more than 4 stars but I was a bit letdown that I did not get to experience what I thought was a big part of the story.  I wish the reader was able to experience the healing process (I will leave it at that…don’t want to give any spoilers away) for the family.  Also, I felt that the family storyline could’ve had a more dramatic ending.  I felt that it dead lined a bit since it was so built up in the beginning and was a huge part of Celeste and Adrian’s relationship.  All in all, I thought this was a great book and recommend it to anyone who wants to read an all-encompassing love story that tugs at your heart.
