Prognosis: Beautifully Awake

Lili Porter hates the rain. Bad things happen in the rain. As a small town social worker dedicated to protecting children, she is forced to start over to escape her rural disaster. Determined to follow her father’s advice—head up and chin high—Lili finds herself in a new city, taking on a new system, this time healthcare. In doing so, she gets something she never expected, an intimate behind-the-scenes look at life in the hospital.

Lili learns that a surgeon’s hands have the power to heal more than physical wounds. And a prescription for truth can cure three years of sleep running and leave you beautifully awake.

Stacia Says…

Alexis has been telling me to read this book for the longest time. She said it was a SEXY version of Grey’s Anatomy and boy was she right!! I should have picked this book up a long time ago- I am officially in love with Dr. Chase Colton aka Dr. Seduction, Dr. Sweet and Sexy, Dr. Possessive, Dr. Intensity… I could go on all day. This man puts McSteamy and McDreamy to shame!

“Dr. Compassionate one minute and psycho surgeon the next”

Beautifully Awake is about Lili Porter, a case manager at a Philadelphia hospital. After rotating shifts to the Neuro ward, she meets complicated Chief Neurosurgeon Dr. Chase Colton. Lili and Chase both have complex pasts and after years of trying to deal with their issues apart, they find solitude and peace together.

“Truth. You want the honest truth? I love you, Blue, more than anything.”
Even with the horrible things that Lili has been through from a past relationship, she is that loving, sweet, friend to everyone type of personality. She closed herself off to feeling much of anything for over three years and Chase literally wakes up her and helps her heal.  Then on the other spectrum you have the way that Chase decided to deal with his past and the guilt that he feels. He is angry, bitter, resentful, and pretty cold to everyone around him. When these two find each other and finally give into their truths it is explosive. The sexy banter, the dominant doctor, and the smokin’ hot scenes were amazing. I loved the caring, tender side to Chase; he loves Lili and it shows with every look, touch, and loving gesture.
I also loved Lili’s best friend Sierra and Chase’s best friend Asher. These two were hilarious and great supporting character. I am excited for Asher’s book Beautifully Done coming out in July.

“You woke me up Chase. You brought color back to my life. The only time I ever want to see grey again is when I’m looking in your eyes.”

If you want a passionate book about a sexy alpha doctor with a sweet female lead, then this book is for you. Truth!

teaser 1

There was a small basket at the edge of our blanket with a bottle of champagne and two flutes. The yummy champagne. He handed me a glass before he reached deeper into the basket. He placed an irregularly shaped stone into the palm of my hand. It was smooth and in the dim light it resembled a larger piece of blue sea glass from my bracelet. Attached was a small silver chain and ring that held a single vintage key.

I gave him a questioning look. “What’s this?”

“It’s ours,” he said quietly.

I sat up a little bit, trying to absorb what he was telling me. “You want to live together?”

Chase made a throaty noise, a seriously sexy noise, and lifted the corners of his mouth. “That goes without saying, that’s already a done deal. Wherever we’re waking up together is where we live, as far as I’m concerned. Yeah, it would definitely be more convenient if all of our shit was at one place, but that’s your call, baby. If you want to keep your apartment or get a new one altogether or sleep in a different place every night, it doesn’t matter to me. It’s just an address, a technicality. The spot where your head is laying against my chest is where we live. Got me, Blue?”

What was I to say to that? I said nothing. I just stared in amazement.

“So I guess the answer to your question is yes, we live together, but this is something else.” He rubbed the key in my hand. “This is our peaceful place.”

About Riley Mackenzie

Yep. That’s an “s.” There are two of us!

We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.

It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.
So you can easily find us at 4 o’clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.
Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?

Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.

So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!
