All's fair in love and auto maintenance.

Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.
Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone’s favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston’s charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever.
She mumbles to herself, but won’t respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won’t shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words.

Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life.

The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora’s box of complexity—exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity—and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean missing out on what matters most.

Stacia says…

Every book that I have read from Penny Reid has been such a fun, sexy book. And the Winston Brothers is probably my favorite series of hers! Beard in Mind, is the 4th book in the series and follows Beau the most charismatic and well known member of the family. He would bend over backwards for anyone that needs help. He is polite, charming, and of course a big hit with the ladies. After seeing some of his brothers find love and settle down, Beau wants that for himself. He just never expected to fall for the new mechanic his brother hired. She is rude, blunt, and has an over-all nasty attitude toward everyone. But, he sees something special in Shelly that he can’t help but pursue.

“Don’t let anyone in your life who isn’t the best, and don’t hesitate walking away from a person who can’t give you what they need.”

I think one of my favorite things about Penny Reid’s writing is her character development. She writes amazing characters that you feel such a connection to. I fell in love with the Winston family (and the entire town of Green Valley, Tennessee) in the first book in the series and I can’t wait to read more.

About Penny Reid

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).

By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
